Good morning.

First of all I would like to introduce myself. My name is Wilfredo
Rodriguez, I am writing from Venezuela.

I am a novice in openZIM, I'm just starting to enter the world of
performance multimedia content.

OpenZIM I've been using for some time. I think it is important to
standardize the format, this will bring benefits to all stakeholders.

I do not like talking about myself, but in this case is necessary.

I have 14 years experience programming. I specialize in Web 2.0 systems, I
have a good level (ordered by experience) of c/c++/Ruby/Java/PHP/perl/lisp
and many others. I can also get to do graphic design work fairly good.

I can understand very well English and French.

I am at your service

I hope to be of assistance in whatever they need.

Hi Wilfredo,

welcome to the openZIM development team.

I just saw that you also added yourself as attendee of our planned
Wikipedia Offline session for Wikimania 2011 in Haifa.

Very good!

Do you have any specific needs, ideas or similar for openZIM?

Linterweb is currently working on a ZIM reader for Android using Java,
the biggest problem here seems to be that there is no XZ / LZMA2 library
for Java available. Asaf tries to fix that by porting it from C++ to Java:

I remember seeing you in a presentation at Wikimania last year, this seemed
interesting. I have been following very closely the project openZIM since I
was Zeno. I think it is a fundamental piece of the puzzle to spread the
encyclopedia in remote or third world countries. If it was not because I
need to work on other things to eat, I dedicate it entirely.

Although not a openZIM and wmf mission. I would like to see a centralized
place to download ZIM, and is supported by the Wikimedia Foundation.

I have decided some time to work hand in hand with Emmanuel, he is a very
committed to the project and with a clear vision of what this project and
its implications.

I think it can be used LZMA SDK, this includes java LZMA2 and XZ support (
http://www.7-zip.org/sdk.html). I think so.
I think it is very important migration to Java. Many mobile devices using
Java. kindle, Android based, Blackberry, etc..

I will retire to read the source code.
